Could this be a Brown Recluse?? It was light brown and fuzzy. I saw a damaged web in my door frame but the spider wasn't on one. I love right up against woods and I have Cellar Spiders and House spiders but I've never seen this one.

Hi, she’s Neoscona crucifera or Araneus cavaticus. In, other words, she’s a fuzzy species of orb-weaver. They are called that because they make webs that are concentric circles (orbs) with straight line rays coming from the center. My profile picture is based on orb webs (from a raised relief pattern on an old glass liquor flask that I dug up). Orb-weavers are nocturnal and hide during the day. That’s probably why you haven’t seen one before. I’ve only seen one too. BTW, brown recluses look totally different, not fuzzy at all 🙂
