Body was about an inch. Almost 2 inches from leg tip to leg tip.

I believe this to be a banana or Brazilian Wandering spider. I found one in my basement this morning. The only descriptions and information I can find on this spider suggests that it is this crazy species.
Hi.your spider is one of the burrowing wolf spiders,Geolycosa species. Not considered medically significant but can have a potent bite.
You startle or threaten them, this is much their defensive pose, not a good time to poke a finger at them.
Not often have I seen these so set off even catching them by hand.
