Hi, welcome to SpiderID. 🙂 Lovely orbweaver, I’m not familiar enough with the spiders of your region to be certain of species. Did you consider or were you able to rule out Aculepeira ceropegia?
Hi, thanks! I think A. armida is more abundant but yes, I guess we cannot rule out A. ceropegia without genitalia.
I considered A. carbonaria too, but just googling and looking at images that are purportedly that species I thought that one looked different enough and that A. armida had bolder markings, I thought it matched nicely with those IDed as A. ceropegia but given the angle and my lack of experience with them I’m not confident.
