Hey, I believe I just saw one of these spiders in Mill Bay on Vancouver Island
Actually, Hexura picea is very small (~1 cm in total body length) and has only been found on the West side of Vancouver Island in dense moist conifer (old growth) forests with a deep moss pile floor. This species has not been found on the middle or east side of the island. What I think you saw, and they’re very abundant everywhere on Vancouver Island (incl, Mill Bay), is the similar-looking Antrodiaetus pacificus (Antrodiaetidae) that can have a body length of up to 2.5 cm. Look at this species on this site or on a Google search.
