Hi, welcome to SpiderID. 🙂 You found an Orbweaver in the genus Araneus. There are a few similar looking to this and I can’t make out enough detail to say which exact species with certainty. (A. gemmoides? A. gemma?)
Thank you! We have plenty of Orbweavers here, I’d just never seen one so orange!
Some of them get that way when they get old, I don’t know why. Looking at this one again I think I do recognize it after all. 🙂 Comparing placement of the banding on the legs to the ones I was initially considering I instead think this actually is a Cross Orbweaver (Araneus diadematus).
