Its a black and yellow garden spider, but the zigzag in its web is a tell tale sign that its a sub-species of banana spider. something I never thought I would see again. I grew up with these in florida their here in thayer too. Their bites are very painful but ive never heard of them killing anyone. I would kill it. Especially if their are kids around. Their egg sacs are fairly big and brownish there is one on my porch right now they hatch in spring the mom is not too far away. We’ve hit her with diatemacous… Read more »

We think we found one too, a Argiope aurantia or yellow garden spider.
