Picture of unidentified spider

Comments & ID Thoughts

Visiting Maine on vacation. Saw this striking spider, ca. 5cm overall, on the wall of a bank and, being a Biology professor in Florida, was curious as to its identity. The leg striping looks similar to two or three species in your database.

This is either a dark fishing spider, Dolomedes tenebrosus, or a striped fishing spider, D. scriptus. I think it’s the former, but I not completely sure.
