This spider was huge and the vehicle headlight caught notice of it on the side of a brick apartment building in Morgantown, WV.

Hi, she looks like Neoscona crucifera, a Hentz Orb-weaver. The males are normal sized. Researchers found that it is the females that are unusual – they display a form of gigantism because they continue to grow for a longer amount of time in their development than the males do. The females also house their egg mass in their abdomens and the abdomen stretches as the eggs get larger. The females eat big meals and that causes stretching too.
