Captured it in a jar – have never seen one of these before. I live in a rural area east of Gallup NM.

Hi there this spider looks like a Cat spider or Araneus gemmoides :3

I think Araneus illaudatus is most likely. The shoulder points are more pointy than the other species’ and the markings down the abdomen match A. illaudatus.
