I have no idea, this one is dead it was hanging infront of my door last night and had to kill it because it was going up and down infront of my door knob and was scared to death.. there ususally is anywhere between 1-8 at a time on my porch! Please help identify, the pics on here are not helping me figure This out!!! Is it a barn spider????!

Please anyone, help me figure this spider out. Anything I look up doesn’t exactly resemble this spider and honestly i am being overrun by them. Some nights I won’t even stay at my house due to the fact I can’t get through all the spiders hanging or webbing…

I believe this spider is Araneus sp. (an Orb Weaver) they are harmless to humans and animals. they are also good at controlling pests
Thanks so much but still don’t like seeing them hanging all over my porch when I get home from work at night… creepy like I am living in the movie arachnophobia
Hi, one thing you could do to decrease spiders on your porch is to minimize using a porch light. A porch light attracts insects that the spiders eat. Pruning shrubbery back to a few feet from the porch will also decrease insects. The orb spiders will probably die this week in this area due to sub freezing temperatures. The babies will hatch in the spring. I think she was a marbled orbweaver, Araneus marmorous. The markings match though she had an unusual pretty orange color.
