First time we have seen one of these in the garden. One of the largest spiders we have seen in the last few years. I believe it is a Black and Yellow Garden Spider(Argiope aurantia).

Is a garden spider. It is a type of orb weaver.

Hi, yes you have the identification exactly right. Nice New Hampshire scenic photo! I live in Nashua and I’ve never seen this species though it is big and black and yellow.
