my guess is a western spotted orb weaver, but I really have no idea.
the spider is living in a lamp fixture outside and has built a web underneath it.

Hi, sorry Dan, I think she is Neoscona oaxacensis. That is THE orbweaver species in the area, from the photos on our site. The colors in this species vary greatly, like with marbled orbweavers.
