Wolf Spider is what we call them. Very skiddish upon sight. Noticed if you blind them with a flashlight they stay still long enough to get a picture.

Hi, I keep guessing Rabid Wolf Spider, Rhabidosa rabida for striped wolf spiders in your state. I haven’t really learned the wolf spider species yet. I don’t think anyone has mentioned using bright light to get them to hold still before. I use my brightest level of camera flash to stun some spiders and insects then go to regular flash. It doesn’t work with the most photo-sensitive spiders, it makes them run. Moths love camera flash and dragonflies at dusk seem to crave it.
