Outside my house, large web, about 1.5 feet, strings holding it up were a good 10-12 feet across, connecting my house to a tall bush. My guess is a Hentz Orb-weaver.

Hi, great photo presentation! I think your identification is correct, Hentz orbweaver, Neoscona crucifera. Connecticut seems to have a big population of them compared to other states.
