some sort of orb spider? Could not miss the bright orange markings on this guy found crawling in the grass while checking tire pressure on my car, still light out just before dusk. (1/5 photos)

I think you are right. This looks like an orb-weaver. I think it’s a shamrock orbweaver, Araneus trifolium
