Comments & ID Thoughts
Not sure on what type of spider this is, my only guess is maybe a garden spider, but the color isn’t accurate. I’m just wondering if it is one I need to worry about, his/her web is right above my front door! It is also pretty big.

Hi, it is a garden spider, Argiope trifasciata. The colors are paler on the ventral surface (underside) and varies from spider to spider. She’s not anything to worry about. Orbweavers like 90 degree angles and open spaces for their big webs. You can move her web out of the way with a stick if you need to, but she’ll rebuild it. She is a nonagressive spider and her bite is often compared to a bee sting for pain and skin reaction.
