Picture of unidentified spider

Comments & ID Thoughts

This guy has made a massive orb web next to our house and has provided some fascinating things for my son and I to observe. Based on this site I would guess it’s a Neoscona Crucifera (Hentz Orb Weaver). We capture a video of this spider after it captured a grasshopper. Here is “part 2” capturing the central side (with the grasshopper that was captured).

Hi. Certainly Neoscona genus and very likely Nescona crucifera. One of he many great spiders children can learn about and observe.
