Hi, this is a Cross Orb-weaver (Araneidae) Araneus diadematus. 🙂
Hey Itsy. Thank you for the ID! My wife rather freaked out due to its body size. What in particular helped in your identification? Thanks.
This is a rather common species with a distinctive pattern on the abdomen. The pattern is quite faded on yours, but still recognizable. 🙂
Also I deleted your duplicate image and intended to crop this one to match it but I forgot I’m utilizing a mobile device at the moment and the cropping function I use within the site doesn’t function properly on it. I’ll try to remember to crop it later when I’m on a desktop pc.
Thanks. I thought that I uploaded a cropped image (2x) but perhaps it first reverted to the original. Maybe you can also correct my inaccurate guess at ID in the caption. Or add “Not” suffix, :). Btw-Great site!
Got it, thanks!
