What is this? Never seen anything like it and I only count 6 legs though so is it even a spider?

dead spider infected with parasitic fungus Torrubiella pulvinata, I think. This is one of the parasites that controls the host’s body causing it to perform suicidal behavior that increases the spread of the parasite. The spider was probably a long-bodied cellar spider. The spiders are safe away from habitats where fungi grow (upstairs in your house is safe).
