Comments & ID Thoughts

Just walked into this web right outside my patio slider. This spoder was crawling on my chest. I live in Long Island NY. Any idea what this is? I am still freaking out

Hi, this is a Hentz Orb-weaver, Neoscona crucifera. 🙂

If you moved her away from the house she probably won’t come back to the same spot. Another might take her spot though if it was in a good area. Near house lights are an ideal spot for nocturnal orb-weavers because porch lights etc. attract prey species to their webs after sunset.
