I was wondering if anybody knew what type of spider this was. When you walked up towards it it would stick up its front legs like it was trying to scare you away. Its body was the size of a quarter. It sort of looked like a tarantula.

Hi, this is an Orbweaver (Araneidae), likely Araneus sp.. I’d need a clearer more dorsal shot to say with certainty which exact one. They’re not suited for defending themselves on the ground, they don’t see very well and are typically timid.
I will find the old phone I had the picture of this on. There is also a video. I am very new to this site so I do not know if we can post videos. I am not even sure you are going to see this message. I don’t know if I’m posting it r ight. All I know is I have lived here my my entire 32 years of life and I have NEVER seen a spider like this. Just the one time. I thought it was someone’s pet.
