Very painful, red area with a lump under the skin

um sorry to be the one to tell you this, but I think this is a Brown recluse! (Loxosceles reclusa) Scary!
I was pretty sure of that myself! I got bit Sunday and it was very painful up until today. I am not seeing a blister or anything so do you think I am out of the woods, so to speak?

By now, yes, you are in the clear. Either way, a Recluse bite will very rarely develop into the rotting skin it is notorious for.
We aren’t oriented to give medical advice, but I can say that it may be a good idea to see a doctor if the bite area changes in any way, redness, pain, oozing ulceration, any signs of a secondary bacterial infection from the skin puncture. Both of my parents have had reactions from brown recluse bites to their legs. One was from the toxin, the other from bacteria.
