I found this little guy on my balcony. I don’t see a web and have never seen a spider like this in my life. I live in Mansfield, TX and my home is in the more rural part of the city. Just curious if this spider is poisonous or not.
Hi, this is a Hentz Orb-weaver (Neoscona crucifera). Like most spiders they have venom but are not considered to be of medical significance, and are unlikely to bite except in self-defense. They’re beneficial in helping to keep the insect population in check.
