Does anyone know what this is? I've never seen a spider like this in all my years in Maine. It was photographed at night, making a web outside the kitchen window, where I assume the light was attracting the last of the autumn bugs outside. I couldn't see any distinct shape to the web, and it (and he/she) was gone the next night and never seen again. The body suggests some kind of orb weaver, but the coloring and the hourglass are confusing my searches. Any ideas?

Hi, I think she’s a marbled orbweaver, Araneus marmoreus. I’ve seen another like her, with that marking, now.
