I found this spider on a carpet in my basement one evening. Some internet research has led me to believe it’s a “Dark Fishing Spider,” Dolomedes Tenebrosus. I left it alone, but found it a couple days later in the deep sink in my basement, so I took it outside and released it in the garden.
I have come across several more in the woodpile by my shed, the most recent was yesterday evening, October 22.
If anyone could confirm, or give an educated guess what kind of spider this is, it would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I live on the edge of woods in Damascus, Maryland, USA. Thanks in advance.

I believe you are right. This appears to be a fishing spider, and a gorgeous specimen at that.
Thanks for the help! Through the month of October I was finding them every time I gathered wood from my wood pile for the fire pit and would try to get them safely to the edge of the woods, but haven’t found one for a couple of weeks. So far this has been the only one I’ve found inside.
