Comments & ID Thoughts
This spider has lived in our unheated garage all summer and winter for a couple of years that I am aware of. Lives in a web on a window sill next to louvered windows that are always open. The web is full of “leftovers” and the spider hides in the center and has formed a tunnel-like area of web. It’s very dark in color. Any ideas? Dangerous?

I have two pictures posted for Wisconsin…the other one had a very large body and TangledWeb offered up that it looks to be Araneus diadematus. She was found on the foundation of our house in the fall last year when I was painting…we had just had our house re-sided. This is a picture of a different spider that has been in our garage and living in its own funnel…very different colors…blackish and more slender than the first…could it also be a Araneus diadematus?
