This is the South African Rainspider. Commonly found around human habitation, savannah woodlands and scrublands. This spider is a large wandering spider, and does not spin a web. It has received its name from being sighted indoors shortly before rain, because it’s prey is attracted by the humidity. The spider looks frightening, but the bite, though painful, is but harmless to humans. Rain spiders can be agressive, and jump when provoked. Their favorite meal consists of geckos and roaches.
