My guess is initially a wolf spider because of how common they are here. The spider has been sitting on my front door inbetween it and my storm door for 3 days now, moving around in the same area. No web, no flying insects around...does anyone know what type of spider this is? It’s about the size of a silver dollar.

Hi, probably a Nursery Web Spider, Pisaurina mira. They are related to fishing spiders. They’re ambush predators rather than web spiders. Sometimes it is difficult to tell what one is trying to ambush. We have photos of them and fishing spiders on car tire sidewalls, a chimney, front doors, trees, the side of my house, and most appropriately: on boat docks.
