I believe this an orb spider that I found outside my home in Encinitas CA recently while walking the dog. I had originally saw the web (3’-4’) on Halloween. It stretches between the ivy covered ground to the lower branches of a small tree. The spider comes out like clockwork every evening.i’ve had people comment that it looks rather crab-like.
