Comments & ID Thoughts
Don’t know what kind of spider this is. We see someone else found one two days before we found ours, and they’re about 40 miles from us (we’re in Belfair, and they are in Olympia). Any identification help is much appreciated.

We found this spider on the ceiling in our living room tonight, 11/12/18, and had never seen one like this before. Posted on Facebook, and it was identified as an orb weaver spider. After perusing a lot of orb weaver photos (there are many varieties), I believe this is accurate.
I think it is Araneus diadematus, a cross orbweaver. They are widespread geographically. Yours looks to be a little more red than most.
Thanks very much. Yes, this guy (or gal) is very orange, verging on red. Hopefully it does ok outside. No webs inside. We have an LP fireplace insert, so wonder if he came in via that route.
