Comments & ID Thoughts

I found this spider in a log of vermiculite which I bought from a pet shop for my pet snake. It was in what looked like an egg or possible a tangle of web.

Hi, welcome to Spider ID. 🙂 If I’m seeing it right this looks like it might be a Wall Spider – possibly Uroctea durandi, which is Mediterranean in origin and not native to the UK.

You’re welcome! Thanks for sharing, it’s interesting to see which species are good at sneaking outside their natural range.

Species placement tentative.

I found one exactly the same, it’s definitely Uroctea durandi, have you bought cork bark or cork tubes recently? As that’s where the one I found came from.
