What the hell is this at my front door?
That looks a lot like a False Wolf Spider, Zoropsis spinimana, in the Family Zoropsidae. It is native to central and western Europe from the Mediterranean to Russia and has been introduced to North America on the west coast. It has been recorded in Britain but only since the early 1990’s. There are only a handful of records primarily in the southeast. It is certainly a significant find in Britain (assuming the ID is correct).
