Sorry for the doubled watermark signature (not intentional).
The watermark is no problem. Is the photo’s coloring filtered toward blue or are warm tones lowered? There is an orbweaver in Australia that looks like this, Eriophora transmarina. There is another spider photo that my still be in the Discussion part of this site that shows a black orbweaver with a white stripe. I don’t know what that one is either, perhaps someone else will
No, I usually shoot with auto white balance and I didn’t do anything in post to change the color, just a little noise reduction. It was fairly dark under the canopy, though.
Thank you for answering my question. The darkness makes sense for losing some natural color, I mostly take photos in the dark, it always alters the result. The only time it seems to be beneficial is for flower photos. Many large flowers evolved with night pollinators and they are colored to be seen by them (lots of UV light reflection) with light colors that refract light and aim the pollinators to the nectar and reproductive organs like a airplane runway. Some narcissus flowers, in particular, look much different when shot in the dark. I’m trying to learn how other people… Read more »
Just to be clear, this was shot at 9:45a on a nice day in early September. However, it does get pretty dark under the canopy in the rain forest. FYI, this was shot at 1/800 @f4, ISO 1100 w/ a 600mm lens and a D500 camera. The final image was cropped to about half the original size.
Thank you for the details. Many sites crop the photo if you don’t do it first, I crop mine before posting to get the best centering. I would love to take photos in a rainforest! My brother went to Costa Rica this year and got some great photos of birds and sloths.
