Marbled orbweaver, araneus marmoreus.

TangledWeb

They aren’t very venomous, they have enough to paralyze their insect prey and to rebuke larger animals that they feel are directly threatening their life, like a honeybee would. They don’t attack people, they make big round webs and mostly stay with the web with their heads aimed toward the ground. In late autumn they seem to head out into leaf litter to hunt, probably because flying insects aren’t around in colder weather.
