Hi, this is a crab spider. I think the tripod position it is in might mean it is afraid. I’ve seen them do that when I put my cellphone in front of them for photos, blocking their path. It might be to make them look bigger or because that is close to the position a spider adopts to escape a predator by kiting. To kite they send out a strand of silk and get carried away on a breeze or they can jump and have the silk act as a tether. The first crab spider I photographed did that pose… Read more »
