Comments & ID Thoughts

I took photo of this red tiny little guy on top of bathtub. It looks like a spider or a tick. I'm not sure. I would be greatly appreciated if anyone identify it. Thanks

I’m not an expert but that looks like a tick. If it is, be careful. Just google red ticks or something an you’ll probably get a better idea.

Does it look red or brown when you look at it without a camera? If it looks brown it might be a Steatoda genus spider. I have one in my bathroom that looks like a red tick in certain light though it is brown.

It’s not a spider, or a tick but it is in the same subclass as the ticks (Acari). It is a Red Spider Mite. There are a number of mites that show this bright red color and they can be serious pests of plants and crops. Do you have houseplants near the bathtub? Look for yellowinf spots on th leaves and stems where the mites have been feeding on plant juices.
