I think this earwig is a male still going through his development. They like moisture. The amount of them outdoors varies year to year depending on the weather. Some plants are more attractive to them than others. I stopped growing sunflowers because earwigs chewed through the inner vascular parts of the plants and put eggs in the seeds. So every year I plant different plants (crop rotation). If you have them indoors they are probably coming up ventilation spaces for plumbing looking for condensation and probably other insects.
