Comments & ID Thoughts

We just would like to know what the spider is? It was in our house.

Nope, we haven’t had time to start thinking about it. It may be Dolomedes tenebrosus, a dark fishing spider. They eat insects when they aren’t catching fish. They show up in all kinds of odd spots. They’re harmless, you can safely escort your pantry spider to the outdoors, or keep it around if you have pantry moths or any other insects you want it to deal with. It needs a little hydration, like a splash of water on a small plate. Spiders will drink from water droplets to supplement the liquid from their prey.
