This is super small, like half the size of a tick or smaller....he moved like a crab and stood his ground for the most part. Lays very flat and is almost unmovable to brush him away. I used the tip of a knife to lift him from the paper and he didn’t move...just held on. Cool little spider.

Hi, I think your spider is a banded crab spider (you almost had the ID), Misumenoides formosipes. This is one of my personal favorites. They have impressive ability to change color through increasing or decreasing the amount of certain chemicals in their blood stream. I think this is based on their visual perception of the environmental colors. Every photo I see of them shows a good color match.
