Comments & ID Thoughts
I’ve never seen a spider that looked like this. I live in South Eastern Michigan and it was sitting on my front door.

Hi, this may be a “cross orbweaver,” Araneus diadematus. Her markings are pale. She is definitely an orb (circular) web type of spider. Being in an area protected from the wind chill may have kept her alive in the cold weather. She may be able to produce another round of eggs this year. The eggs and hatchlings can survive through temperatures below freezing without damage.
Agreed, that is a very gravid female Araneus diadematus, the Garden Cross Orb Weaver.
