Comments & ID Thoughts

Think it’s a tarantula but my biologist neighbour isn’t so sure because ‘the cephlathorax is not broad or shield-like’. About an inch and a half total leg span (the red stripe it’s on is 1/2” wide). Found in our front hallway.

Hi, welcome to Spider ID. 🙂 I’m not well versed in Mygalomorphae so I don’t know if looking for a “shield-like cephlathorax” has any merit … but nevertheless, your spider looks like a False Tarantula (Calisoga). I recognize them as not being as hairy.
