Comments & ID Thoughts

Hi there, I woke up in the middle of the night with a slight stinging pain in my left arm. I got up to check it out in the mirror and observed what looked like some sort of bug bite. Upon removing my blanket, I saw this guy running around in my bed. Any idea what it is? And should I be concerned about this bite?

Hi, this tentatively looks like a Longlegged Sac Spider, Cheiracanthium mildei. You can reduce the number of spiders you find in your home by sealing cracks around floors, doors, windows, foundation etc., vacuum everywhere and empty the canister outside. They’re not considered to be of medical significance (though there was some disagreement about this at one time), everyone’s immune system is different though so of course if you had a reaction that gave you cause for concern see a doctor. I hope you had a quick and uneventful recovery.
