Please help me identifying this spider at first I thought it was a brown recluse but it doesn’t seem to fit. I need to find out because my husband is terrified of spiders since being bitten by a brown recluse and having surgery to remove the dead tissue all the way to the muscle.
Hi, she’s an orbweaver kind of spider. They mostly prey on flying insects but will eat most insects if they can. She may eat the moths as caterpillars now and later when they can fly. I don’t know if their presence is related to the heavy rains. Your spider isn’t a bite threat to your husband as long as he doesn’t hold her tightly in his hand or have his skin pressed against her in a way that causes her to fear for her life.
