Comments & ID Thoughts

Trying to identify this spider that was running across my kitchen floor. May have come in in an Amazon box or from the woods near my home. Have never seen this size or type near my home in the 20 yrs here.

We seem to have seen this type of “New Jersey kitchen spider” a bit too often to believe this epidemic could really be happening.

Peace. Do you know the other person who posted the same photo at a 90 degree rotation? Some people like to waste our time with hoaxes. It seems suspicious that two people posted identical photos under different user names and different locations. If you posted it first and it is a real spider and the other user stole your photo, I’m sorry.

Hi, it’s difficult to be sure what this is from this image. I think it is most likely a Wolf Spider, maybe Tigrosa helluo (they’re really brown but might appear black in poor lighting). Something weird seems to be going on where it is white at the base of the legs though. It looks as though there is dust or webbing stuck to it, or possibly even fungus growning on it.
