Comments & ID Thoughts
Trying to identify this spider that was running across my kitchen floor. May have come in in an Amazon box or from the woods near my home. Have never seen this size or type near my home in the 20 yrs here.

Anyone know what kind of spider this is? It was about 1.5” long and all black.
We seem to have seen this type of “New Jersey kitchen spider” a bit too often to believe this epidemic could really be happening.
??? You don’t think the picture is real? I’d post the pic of it dead, but I can’t seem to add a second picture under the same ID. I assure you, it was real. About 1.5” long. Just curious if any experts on this site know what type of spider this was. If not, I’ll pull it down.
Peace. Do you know the other person who posted the same photo at a 90 degree rotation? Some people like to waste our time with hoaxes. It seems suspicious that two people posted identical photos under different user names and different locations. If you posted it first and it is a real spider and the other user stole your photo, I’m sorry.
Sorry… yes it was me who rotated the picture… inadvertently when I tapped the picture on this site. Still not sure why that happened. Any insight as to what kind of spider this was? I’ve never seen one like this around my house before and it may have come in on an Amazon box. The box was most likely shipped from central jersey also though, so I’m assuming this spider is local to the area. I should have thought to keep it after I killed it, and shown it to an exterminator, but I wasn’t that curious about it until… Read more »
Just re-read your last message also. Are there other IDs and usernames posting this picture? If so, they are not me. QEK is the real and original post.
Just found the other post. That’s a friend of mine who also posted my pic on this site.
Hi, it’s difficult to be sure what this is from this image. I think it is most likely a Wolf Spider, maybe Tigrosa helluo (they’re really brown but might appear black in poor lighting). Something weird seems to be going on where it is white at the base of the legs though. It looks as though there is dust or webbing stuck to it, or possibly even fungus growning on it.
Thank you! The white you see is from my spraying it. It looked completely black prior to that. We’ve had other Wolf Spiders outside our house that have looked much different, but from what I can tell online there are many different kinds of Wolf Spiders. Appreciate your help in identifying it.
