My guess is that this is a funnel weaver, but I'm not very knowledgeable about this stuff. It seams darker than other funnel weavers that I have seen. This one was About 2.5-3 inches in diameter.

It appears to be one of the large Wolf Spiders in the family Lycosidae and looks a lot like some of the Tigrosa species, several of which at quite dark in color.
