Possibly a wolf spider? It was found dead outside, right beside the house. It was cold outside and there were (I'm pretty sure) a bunch of wolf spiders in the basement before.

Totally not a wolf spider. She was an orb-weaver, Araneus diadematus. Probably death by natural causes- age & cold air & lack of flying insects & dehydration. If she left behind an egg sack or a nest of hatchlings they should survive the winter, they’re freeze-tolerant.
