This appears to be a female Hawaiian Garden Spider (Argiope-aurantia). I am submitting this to report my sighting on Jan 9, 2019, in the Kapalua area of Maui, Hawaii.

Hi, thanks for sharing your photo of Argiope appensa. It is a nice photo with the web. Argiope aurantia has a black and yellow striped abdomen, you probably knew that and mistyped.
