Found this by the door inside the house, right by the front door, caught it before the cats could get to it.

Any body knows what it is? I think it's some kind of orb weaver but can't be sure.

Hi, probably a noble false widow, Steatoda noblis. It’s in the taxonomic family Theridiidae . Their bodies are shaped similar to orbweavers but these are more smooth and more likely to be darkly colored because they mostly live in dark places. They attempt to avoid big animals like people and pets – good move getting it away from your cats 🙂
