Comments & ID Thoughts
I thought it looked like a black widow, minus the hourglass. Maybe a False Black Widow? It was hiding in the kid's toy box in my living room. I live an hour and a half south of Seattle, WA. I still have it in a plastic container and it's still alive.

Hi, a clearer photo of the spider’s markings is needed for an ID. You can get closer, just don’t touch the spider with your skin. Let the camera autofocus take the time it needs, current cellphone cameras take quite awhile to finish focusing. It can feel like an eternity when your hand is near a spider. Digital zoom causes poorer resolution. I’ve been practicing spider portraiture to give better advice 🙂
I submitted a new picture. I cant seem to find an “edit” to my original post/picture… the new one is ID No. 52281. Thanks!
Thanks! I should have mentioned that you can’t add photos to an existing post.
