The hour glass markings on widows are on the ventral surface. Your photo is dorsal. If I’m correct that this is a western black widow, it is a juvenile. The colors and patterns vary with gender and developmental stage. Mature males have a dorsal row of orange-red marks. Mature females usually have a row of white dorsal marks like: ( ) ( ) ( ) except sideways, down the abdomen. The hourglass on this species is reddish orange.
